Barker Construction Specialties
Web Design
Barker Nestor (an architecture/design background) was evolving into Barker Construction Specialties, a new construction-services firm specializing in hotel restoration and related projects. The new website needed to reflect this transformation, not just as a new visual shell, but as a redefined brand identity and positioning, projecting competence, craftsmanship, and owner-led service rather than a legacy design studio. I approached the Barker Construction Specialties (BCS) website as both a design challenge and a brand-building exercise. Because BCS grew out of Barker Nestor’s architecture and design heritage, my first step was to meet with the founders and key stakeholders to understand how they envisioned this next evolution of the company. Through these conversations, I gathered the core values they wanted to preserve: architectural expertise, craftsmanship, and owner-led service, while also clarifying how the new construction-specialties identity needed to differentiate itself from the original design studio. I partnered closely with marketers to translate those values into a clear, confident narrative and tone. Together, we refined the messaging into what now defines BCS: a hands-on, high-credibility construction partner that blends design intelligence with real-world execution. Throughout the design process, I facilitated ongoing reviews with stakeholders to iterate on layout, hierarchy, photography, and copy until the brand felt both familiar and newly focused.
I structured the site to be highly scalable and easy for the BCS team to maintain. I built the website on a flexible CMS so stakeholders can quickly add new projects, update service offerings, and publish content without technical overhead. To support this scalability, I created a custom component library that ensures consistency across pages while enabling interactive elements that make the site feel dynamic and intuitive to navigate. One of the key interactive features I developed was the project map, which allows users to visually explore completed BCS work across different regions, reinforcing credibility and demonstrating the company’s depth of experience at a glance. I also focused heavily on shaping the user journey, guiding visitors toward the contact page through strategic CTAs and a clean inquiry funnel designed to convert new interest into direct outreach.
This combination of CMS structure, reusable components, and interactive features helps BCS scale its digital presence as the business continues to grow.
